Richard set up an analysis platform for Commonwealth Bank’s core banking applications using SQL Server 2005 and Itanium 64-bit Windows servers. Richard helped DEWR perform an early (beta) migration to SQL Server 2005. DEWR used the relational capabilities of SQL Server and Analysis Services, Integration Services and Reporting services. All of these services were on Itanium 64-bit Windows servers. Case study (writeup). Case study video.
In 2004, Richard worked with Channel Nine to create a data warehouse and business intelligence solution incorporating sales, price sensitivity, fill rates, viewer ratings and demographics. This case study demonstrates Richard Lees combination of business and technical skills.
Here is an example of Richard’s technical strength. One of Richard’s widely used innovations is Web/proxy Analysis. It provides powerful OLAP analysis of web sites and is used by many organisations around the world. The International Rugby Board used Richard’s tool for the Rugby World Cup 2003. In 2003, Richard helped ComputerFleet and their BI partner (Angry Koala) come up with a revised business strategy that involved a bespoke Data Mining application using Decision Trees to predict inertia of their leased assets. Case study. 

Richard worked with ASB Bank to formulate a new business strategy that enabled them to exploit their 1 terabyte data warehouse by providing nationwide business intelligence tools to branch staff. The New Zealand Defence Force employed Richard to create ad hoc ability to query all internal and external email movements. Case study
